A flexible identity

Marc & Anna, an idenpendent design studio in London have created a stylish, flexible identity for Number 57, a newly-opened multi-purpose arts space in south-east London that holds workshops, talks, exhibitions, and supper clubs.

The challenge was to create an identity that would be malleable enough to fit the venue’s different roles on a tight budget. They designed a simple primary logo based on the venue’s name to which different styles like a brushstroke effect, a torn notebook look, and film graphics could be applied to indicate its use.

“The logo mark is made up from GT Walsheim and a single weight is used for all copy. Aubergine was chosen as the main color, because it’s richer and warmer than black, and compliments a huge number of colors. A supporting palette of rich and bright tones was developed to be used across the various printed and digital media.” says Marc Atkinson.
